Canyoning

Canyoning is an amazing full body and mind experience that enables you to explore some of the last forbidden places in the Himalayas. On your journey, you will be accompanied by expert and qualified guides who will train you and guide your way. Whilst canyoning, you journey though close passages of rock which has been contoured by ages of rushing water from the Himalayan snow melts. You will traverse though dense jungle, over deep pools and down rocky walls and water falls. Canyoning is one adventure support that gets you off the beaten track and cannot be missed by the adventure seeker. It allows you to explore some of Nepal’s most remote wilderness.

This is the sport of traveling down canyons using a variety of techniques including walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling and swimming. It requires good navigational skills, rope work, swimming ability and a good level of fitness and upper body strength.

In most parts of the world, canyoning is done in wet, mountain canyons - those with water flowing in them. Canyons that are good for canyoning are cut into the bedrock stone, forming narrow slots with drops, beautiful sculptured walls and spectacular waterfalls. Although many of the best canyons are cut into limestone, other common rock types include granite and sandstone. Canyons can be very easy or rather difficult, though emphasis in the sport is on aesthetics and fun, rather than pure difficulty. Significant water flow can make canyons very treacherous, and require special rope work techniques for safe travel.

Canyoning gear includes climbing hardware, static ropes, helmets and wetsuits.
In Nepal there are three places where you can go canyoning form; they are all based out of the last resort, so you have nice comfortable accommodation to return to at the end of your day. Adventure Travellers club can arrange for you any thing form a day trip form Kathmandu to a three day all inclusive canyoning package.
