To many mountaineers, Island Peak is one of the most beautiful in the world. The approach to the summit is made through Solu Khumbu on route to Everest. You veer off from the Everest trail form Namche Bazaar and head into the beautiful Gokyo valley filled with icy glaciers and high altitude lakes. Along the way you pass kalapatthar from where you can get amazing panoramic views of the Everest range. From here you head to the tented base camp. The summit attempts are made after spending the night at a high camp perched on the south west ridge of island peak. The views you obtain while descending are our of this world.
