Rooftop of the world
Awesome Landscapes

Tibet, the very name evokes feelings of awe and mystery. A land of ancient Buddhist culture, awesome landscapes, artistic monasteries, exotic cities, hidden valleys and centuries-old caravan trails, Tibet offers a totally different experience.
Names like the Rooftop of the World, Shangri-la and others have peaked the interests of many adventurers around the world in Tibet.  Those who have visited Tibet describe the culture and tradition they found as truly unique.

The natural world of Tibet has largly gone undiscovered as scientific research has overlooked this region.  Tibet is the last sanctuary left in the world to some of the world’s rarest plant and animal species.  This is due to Tibet’s long period of complete isolation and the protection provided by the stunning mountains throughout the country.  The beliefs of the Tibetan Buddhists and their harmonious relationship to the natural world have greatly influenced the success of the natural world in Tibet.

Kathmandu is the natural gateway to this amazing land.  At the center of the ancient trade routes connecting India and Tibet, Kathmandu is perfectly positioned for its role as the hub of adventure tourism in the Himalaya.

There are several travel options from Kathmandu to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet.  It is possible to either take a scenic highway retracing the caravan trail or to take a spectacular flight over the Himalaya.
