Yoga Information
Programs start on the 1st of every month. Here, the teaching style is based on Satyananda yoga (Bihar yoga). Regular classes are held Monday to Friday. Saturday is the half day and Sunday is the free day (on Sunday you have opportunity to join the Ashram to visit various cultural destination around Kathmandu valley i.e. Patan, Bhaktapur, Budhanilakantha).
What you will learn
- More than 50 Asanas (postures) will be taught starting from basic postures including therapeutic groups of asanas: Pawanmuktasana Part I (Anti-rheumatic group), II (Digestive/abdominal group) and III (Energy block Postures).
- Pranayama (breathing exercises) more than 7 kinds of pranayama.
- Mudra (introduction and practice )
- Bandha (introduction and practice)
- Shatkarma (six kinds of cleansings) Neti, Dhauti, Vasti, Nauli, Kapalbhati, Trataka
- Yoga nidra (A complete relaxation technique- physical, mental and emotional)
- Introduction and practice of Pratyahara (Withdrawal of sensory organs)
- Introduction and practice of Dharana (Concentration)
- Various kinds of Dhyana (Meditation)
- Introduction of various kinds of Yoga :
Raja yoga (Ashtanga yoga), Hatha yoga, Karma yoga (action on yoga), Bhakti yoga (Yoga of devotion), Jnana yoga(Yoga of knowledge), Kundalini yoga (Chakra yoga).
The Daily Routine in Yoga Centre is as follow:
5.30 am: Getting up
6:00 am: Morning walk / mantra chanting and meditation
7:00 am: Cleansing (Shatkarma)
7:30 am: Asana (posture) and Pranaya
8:30 am: Breakfast
9:00 am: Bathing, practice of Karma yoga, study
12:00 noon: Noon lunch
1:00 pm: Personal time or self study or stroll
2:30 pm: Yoga nidra
3:00 pm: Karma yoga
4:00 pm: Tea break
4:30 pm: Revision of yoga postures and pranayama
6:00 pm: Dinner
7:00pm: Trataka or chanting with music
8:00 pm: Retiring
